1. Mission Statement:

The following guidelines have been established for the Upstate NY AALAS members who wish to apply for finical assistance in order to attend meetings, workshops, seminars or training programs.

2. Applicant:

• Must be a current UNYB member in good standing
• Must submit completed application form to UNYB council to request to be considered for the stipend (See bottom of page for address)
• Must have a letter of recommendation from his/her supervisor
• Will give a short presentation at the next meeting or submit an article for the newsletter

3. Application:

• Reviewed by the Education Committee twice a year
• Deadlines: March UNYB council meeting for stipend towards District or Annual meeting function. September UNYB council meeting for stipend towards national meeting
• Must be submitted to the Chair of the Education Committee
• Applicants will be notified of the committee's decision
• Application information will be printed in the newsletter

4. Award:

• $1,400.00 is allotted per year for travel funds
• Recipients will receive up to $500.00 to assist in their travel, lodging, registration and food. Original receipts along with the expense form will be submitted to the Treasurer within one month of the program completion.
• There will be at least one award per period
• It is not mandatory to award monies in every period. If monies are not used in any of the given periods, more than one award may be given at another period if the committee feels there is merit.
• All monies awarded will be utilised to attend meeting, workshops, seminars, training programs, etc., as deemed appropriate by the committee
• If a recipient cannot attend, the award monies will be returned to the Treasurer
• Applicants cannot apply for two awards in one calendar year nor for the same award two years in a row
• The treasurer will maintain a separate account for all monies received or spent
• Award recipient will be announced at the following meeting and in the newsletter
• Education Committee or Council Members are not eligible for the award
